"Malamute Ranch" according to Gery J. Allan. This is a very nice book for anyone interested in the history of sled dogs. I really enjoyed the fact that it begins with a short history of how sled dogs were used by native Inuit tribes. As the book progresses it brings readers up to date on how sled dogs (and their mushers) have evolved, more along the lines of how they are used for sport (e.g., Iditarod & Yukon Quest). I did find some of the writing a bit inaccurate at times. For example, when the author discusses the role and mentality of lead dogs (e.g., as being the dog that nobody challenges). In my experience as a musher, I've found that the best lead dogs aren't really "
