Atmospheric and engaging slccmh I have really enjoyed all of the works in Ann Cleeves's Shetland series. She has a wonderful way, I think, of painting characters so they are flawed but still likeable, so experiencing her books is for me similar to experiencing real relationships. I truly like atmospheric works and have found myself transported by the Shetland novels although I'm a little on the fence as to whether I actually want to visit the area or not. The reason I did not giv. "Just like all the rest of the Shetland books" according to Hugh. Just like all the rest of the Shetland books, this one keeps you guessing right up to the end. The only characters safe from suspicion are Jimmy, Willow and Sandy. I would like to visit the Shetland Islands someday but now I'm worried for my safety -- so many murders for a population of just 22,000 :).. Jimmy Perez keeps me coming back for more Small cast of continuing characters, great sense of place and atmosphere, clever plot, ending was true to clues and to personalities.
