Unfortunately, the text does not do justice to this analytical approach with the description of photographs and photographers being mostly superficial. Nice handbook. This is a general overview of contemporary photographic trends. It makes clear sense of value systems and strategies that can sometimes appear oblique to some. I keep it around and loan it to people who have recently become excited about photography but find themselves unable to appreciate some of the contemporary works exhibited in institutions.
