From dull, dreary drizzle to fantastic flashes of lightening, this book looks at the weather all over the world. Find out what causes the weather and how it can get out of control. Find answers to these questions and more: What can move at over 300 miles per hour? What exactly is thunder?
Intro to Inquiry K. R. Verham The product details clearly show that this book is written for elementary school children, grades three through five specifically. It was informative for my upper elementary students and encouraged them to look more deeply at the weather around them. I used the book to introduce an inquiry unit on weather. It includes valuable vocabulary and beginning information about weather patterns that encouraged my students to become more observant about the world around them. (I find it incredulous that a retired Navy pilot would look in this particular book to update his knowledge base!)Product . James E. Hayford said Smarter than a 5th Grader; Pass on this book!. As a retired Navy pilot, I thought I would "brush-up" on how the world's weather systems had changed since I had stopped flying in 1980, so I chose the book based on it's title. It is written for a grade-school student and not a high-school graduate or beyond. Chapters include; What is weather?, What is an air mass?, What creates weather?, and What is hazardous weather?. Nothing about the world's weather patterns such as monsoon regions, micro-bursts, and etc. Very disappointing, Jim in Virginia BeachThe Earth's Weather: Changing Patterns and Systems (Earth's Processes)
