Great for beginner or novice Some what new to dehydrating food for storage so I thought this book would help. I learned the science behind dehydrating food and the importance of drying foods properly. A good resource, learned of many foods I did not know I could dehydrate. One thing you have to keep in mind is your dehydrator or method used to dry your foods may vary in the time it takes to be safely done. They thought of that too, and tell you how to check for the best results!. "Not what I expected - not for me" according to Susan Riley. This book was not at all what I was expecting. I wanted to find out how to easily dehydrate foods; this book has very complicated ways to accomplish this. According to this book, all foods must be cooked in some manner before dehydrating. Maybe for extremely long term storage, but I am a beginner at dehydrating, and am not looking to put food up for Armageddon; just for snacks and such. I am looking elsewhere for my recipes.. Love it I am new at dehydrating food I have canned for a long time but the Mason Jars are heavy so I decided to start dehydrating takes up way less space and is way lighter on the shelves. This is a easy to understand book love it.
