Amazon Customer said Teaching Children to Ride: A Handbook for Instructors. I was hoping there would be more games and ideas than there were but overall it is an ok book.. "Good resource" according to M. Gage. This book is what I expected - a good resource about teaching the basics of English riding to children. It is mostly text, but there are some drawings/diagrams. It could have more games & exercises, but is good overall. It focuses primarily on teaching groups of children (not private lessons) & often refers to have side walkers - which only makes sense in a camp setting or a very large lesson barn. It spends a lot of time on safety procedures, which is good. The author is British,. Decent resource, not exactly what I was looking for Therapeutic riding Instructor I am a beginning instructor and this book was 1) Brittish- so some terms are odd and 2) not so full of "activities" as it promises. It was atleast a place to start, but I liked the Teaching Safe Horsemanship book better.
Jane Wallace, a former international three-day event rider, is a well known author, respected trainer and mother of two pony mad-sons. . She is also the author of The Less Than Perfect Horse, and several titles in the Threshold Picture Guide series
Includes lots of practical and fun ideas for lessons and riding activities. This is quite simply the best book on teaching children to ride ever written! A wonderfully useful resource for both established teachers as well as those less experienced, it's written with warmth and a true understanding of children. Generously illustrated with photos and drawings.
