Lots of philosophy from artists, but useful only if you have a good background in painting techniques. Most of what is explained relates only to oils -- little about acrylics. Still, a handsome book, and a good reference.. Very good information I did not think this book would be as informative as it was. I enjoyed it and learned a lot.
