"Most charming litle illustrated book (comes with excellent CD) I've seen in a long time." according to Amazon Customer. I accidentally came across this little booklet and CD called GRUNT – Pigorian Chant,” and I found it to be one of most charming and humorous books I have seen in a long time. This little book contains the Latin (and even Pig Latin!) texts of a totally fictitious farm, where the animals live on a kind of “Old MacDonald’s Funny Farm,” (this song is indeed mentioned in Latinized form), but strictly regulated and patterned after medieval monastic daily life. The pages opposite to the hilarious Latin texts are helpful English translations&m. "Fun little book of imaginative verses regarding cats, cats, and more cats." according to JB knows. A fun book of prose! Although I am not a cat lover, I enjoy all of these imaginative verses. My kids love cats and I purchased this book for one child who needs some work on pronunciation and elocution, and this child has enjoyed reading these verses aloud while working on those skills. Given the imaginative names and verse throughout this book, this has provided some good practical exercises.. "An Utter Delight" according to railfan. Here's the backstory to "CATS" as it was originally written. It's an easy read, and a lot of fun. I know I've enjoyed reading it again and again. I remember Peter Ustinov reciting lines from it in "Logan's Run." and I knew at once where it was from. The Broadway play was fairly close to it's source, but the artistic license used in no way detracted from the original. It's a totally delightful book.
