"We love it too." according to E. Van Der Scratchy. I bought this book for my 2 year old son now that I'm expecting #2. He really enjoys it and we have read it several times. The story is really nice about how the two mamas prepare for and then care for their new babies. It is also nice that the bird daddy and the human daddy are included in the caring. I really appreciate that the mom in this book breastfeeds her baby since that is how I'll be feeding mine as well. I would also note that out of the 6 books I bought on the topic of pregnancy/new baby for my so. My son and I love this book! I checked this book out from our library and I absolutely love it. The story shows mothers in parallel - a mama bird and a human mama preparing for the birth of their babies, and then caring for them. The book also includes fathers and some ways they help the mamas. A treasure Hard to imagine how this one could be any better. Depicting the joys of motherhood (although dads are not forgotten) with narratives depicting parallels between the human and animal worlds. Beautiful art, with soft colors and several nice details beyond the narratives that you will enjoy discovering as you read. Rhythmic prose with a mood of happiness and gratitude. My son is 5-1/2 (as I write this) and has been enjoying it for years.
