"Good basics with plenty of scope for customization" according to Truffaut015. I like this book for its emphasis on different body types, and the general wearability of most of the garments included. It's often a challenge to imagine a specific garment seen on a willowy model as it might look on a curvier, or smaller, or more broad-shouldered, or even older woman, and given the effort involved in knitting garments, some idea is always helpful. The variety of models in this text is terrific, and I can feel I might be ma. Few UFOs in my future, now that I have this book. This book gave me a huge leap forward in my understanding of knitting garments that fit me, not a tiny size 2 model. Amy does the best job of explaining how to make a sweater fit of any book that I have read.I love this book because I now can buy yarn with the confidence that I will end up with a sweater that fits. Fewer UFOs in my future. Yarn is expensive and I want to be able to wear what I knit without embarrassing myself. On the negative. altangle said Fine library addition.. Ok, I'm biased a bit (living in Maine) and adore the area of Ms. Herzog's home town. Nonetheless, I love her work, & have two of her video classes as well. Her directions are clear & comprehensive, while patterns generally have a classic feel, yet not 'grandmotherish', adding some fun details. I also like that she embraces more realistic body types I mean seriously, who needs another book full of models with figures resembling 1"Fine library addition." according to altangle.
