DESCRIPTION:
"The Spiritual Lovechild Of Michael Crichton And The X-Files" according to Michael Hicks. Between Ezekiel Boone’s The Hatching: A Novel (The Hatching Series) and, now, Chuck Wendig’s Invasive, this has been a pretty good summer for bug books! While the former concerned itself with the reemergence of an ancient spider species violently troubling mankind, Wending brings us a brand new strain of genetically modified ultra-violent ants.Invasive opens with a brief definition of the word ‘formication,’ which is a sensation that feels like insects crawling over or under your skin. This is a good word to know because you’ll be feeling plenty of formication throughout the book, like. Bite This! Invasive, by Chuck Wendig is a sharp and smart piece of fiction that combines unique characters, science, and horror into an action-packed story that will satisfy you on both a visceral and an intellectual level. And…Oh, who am I kidding???I loved it because it has bitey things! Not one bitey thing. Not two. A veritable legion of things that bite and rend and tear tender human flesh into manageable bloody bits. And they aren’t Jaws the Revenge bitey things. These things couldn’t care less about us other than as a delicious source of food. They want to eat and mate, and they’re smart and rele. Scary Technology Old Doggy Walker Chuck Wendig always has an interesting character or two in his books. The best part of "Invasive" is FBI futurist Hannah Stander. She is brave, relentless and complex. The story begins with a murder that is accomplished with a delivery of a package of ants. What follows is an interesting and suspenseful novel which, on occasion, is laugh out loud funny, Otherwise it is gruesome, grizzly and scary. That is all I am going to tell you, if you are not hooked, so be it.
Chuck Wendig is the author of the Miriam Black thrillers (which begin with Blackbirds) and numerous other works across books, comics, games, and more. A finalist for the John W. He lives in Pennsylvania with his family.. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and the cowriter of the Emmy-nominated digital narrative Collapsus, he is also known for his popular b
“Think Thomas Harris’ Will Graham and Clarice Starling rolled into one and pitched on the knife’s edge of a scenario that makes Jurassic Park look like a carnival ride. Another rip-roaring, deeply paranoid thriller about the reasons to fear the future.” -- Kirkus Reviews (starred review)Hannah Stander is a consultant for the FBI—a futurist who helps the Agency with cases that feature demonstrations of bleeding-edge technology. It’s her job to help them identify unforeseen threats: hackers, AIs, genetic modification, anything that in the wrong hands could harm the homeland.Hannah is in an airport, waiting to board a flight home to see her family, when she receives a call from Agent Hollis Copper.
