Dick Francis fans will enjoy these stories, although of course there's not as much character development OR varied scenes and action as in one of his full-length novels. The writing is, as always with Francis, excellent. Each story is quite different, and many have a 'twist' at the end that adds to the fun. I found myself thinking about the characters and the plo. I mail ordered this book, and was somewhat dismayed to discover that it is a collection of short stories - not my favorite format. They are enjoyable, and well written short stories, but there isn't enough room for much character development.. I enjoyed this. The stories were short enough that I Aaron M. Lund I enjoyed this. The stories were short enough that I could read an entire one each night (usually I only get a chapter or two read). Fun to read a pre-Internet/Google/IPhone world story, though there was one story that mentioned a laptop, but was written in 1974. I know an effort was made in this edition to update the $$ amounts to reflect 201x dollars.
