DESCRIPTION:

Etienne, Western Kentucky University  “…I really like this book.  It is readable, current, and would serve as a good professional recruitment tool for nonmajors taking a survey course.  It truly makes the profession come alive through its use of case studies.”- Virginia G. ittysbittsy said Solid info, crappy typos. There are too many typos to call this an acceptable text in academia. I have had to use books written by Tanner for three of my courses so far, and they all gave the same issues. He is not a very good author. He needs to use one of the many undergraduates doubtlessly at his disposal as a proofreader.. A good introduction This book is ideal for an introductory course in Communication Sciences and Disorders. It is highly readable and the case studies presented avoid the dry nature of typical case studies. The book is also comprehensive; it gives a good overview of anatomy, types of disorders, and even touches on Audiological topics. This was the text that we used in my first ever CSD class and introduced me to the field. It's a great introductory level text. My two favorite things about it are its comprehensiveness and readability.
