I bought this for a very low language 8th grader who needed to learn the basics of American history before moving on to high school. The chapters are short and easy to read. There are multiple end-of-chapter exercises to reinforce what was covered. There are ample color photos to make reading the text interesting and more understandable. This was a great choice for my student, and the second half of the book (post Civil War) will be used in high school with him to complete his American history requirement.
