"Great Filmmaker, Bad Book" according to kinojayGreat Filmmaker, Bad Book The other reviewer hit the nail on the head, so I won't belabor it: good opening chapter, followed by banal synopses of Ferrara's filmography, with some incredibly off-the-mark comparisons to Godard, Passolini, Bresson, etc. Not to say Ferrara wasn't influenced by said directors, but the author really makes some logic leaps in trying to make nearly every shot in every film an homage to one of these directors (not to mention it does a disservice to Ferrara, making him seem completely unoriginal). To top it all. Not what it should have been stuart I've always been a fan or Mr Ferrara, from the early days. And this is the first time that I had seen a book about him, I bought it, and started to read it. The first chapter is amazing, telling of the struggle to get his films made, the casting problems, and the major battle that he has had with the censors for many years, it gave a good insight into the life of Abel. Sadly though, these first 36 pages were the only decent pages in this book, the remaining 150 or so pages are nothing more than lengthy synop
