There's even a recipe for maandazis so you can try making them at home!I really recommend this book, and hope your kids will enjoy it as much as mine did!. A terrific children's book for all ages CatM123 This is a great story with a great message. It's about a little boy in Kenya who wants a special treat and learns that when you work for something, it tastes even better. My six year old and two twelve year olds all really liked the book. The pictures are great, and they enjoyed learning some Swahili as well - there are translations at the back of the book. There's also a recipe for maandazi, which seems to be a kind of donut (we haven't made it yet, but it looks delicious!)We decided to get t. Jesse Melnick said Excellent!. This book is beautifully illustrated and provides an excellent view into a different culture. My two young sons both loved it! We also tried the recipe for Maandazi - absolutely wonderful!
