What I didn't expect was the direct thought provoking insight this author offered. I would have liked to read this book in my earliest days of recovery.. Step program is something I am very familiar with and picked this up when I felt I needed to be reacquainted. What I didn't expect was the direct thought provoking insight this author offered. I would have liked to read this book in my earliest days of recovery.. basic nuts and bolts to 12 steps and recovery wonderful book that breaks 12 steps into "real-life". whether you are new to recovery or long time sobriety, this book has something for all. love the anecdotes, lots of "been there, done that" which we all can relate to. author DOES KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. wish this had been available first time i went through working the steps!. A 12 &12 for the 21st Century I have found this book very helpful in my recovery. It puts the Twelve Steps in a context that is relevant to my past and, more importantly, to my everyday living today. I recommend it to people in any stage of their recovery.
Those who have difficulty accepting the concept of a God of their understanding will be able to see how this approach can offer a tangible solution to their dilemma. There is clear presentation not only of addictions, but how Twelve Step programs aid in restoring recovering addicts’ lives. This book introduces a refreshing perspective which may offer answers to some of the hardest questions we approach in working our sobriety/recovery in the Twelve Steps. The book provides an in depth understanding of how the culture of recovery works outside of the Twelve Step meetings. The stories of those who have had the courage to make the program part of their lives are us
